Set against the magnificent scenery of the Calanques, Civita di Bagnoregio is an ancient village that stands on a spur of tuff rock subject to crumbling and landslides.
Over time, significant parts of the town have been devoured by this relentless erosion, so much so that it is also known as "The dying city".
What remains today is a breathtaking spectacle, capable of attracting visitors from all over the world.

THE GARDEN OF PEONIES

In Vitorchiano, a few kilometers from Viterbo, there is the largest collection of Chinese tree and herbaceous peonies in the world. The Moutan Botanical Center, which covers an area of fifteen hectares, collects about six hundred different varieties and natural hybrids belonging to the known botanical species, some of which are extremely rare, such as the Rockii, a spontaneous variety of the Tibetan highlands. to withstand extreme temperatures, even below twenty degrees Celsius. In the months of April and May, the period of maximum flowering, we recommend visiting the evocative Garden of Peonies: a splendid eye-catcher, a unique opportunity to enchant the eye and enrich your garden.

CIMINI MOUNTAINS

Territory known for the production of chestnuts and hazelnuts of the highest quality, the Cimini mountains represent the perfect destination for those who want to immerse themselves in the green of romantic and mysterious woods. To the north they are tall and solemn, studded with suggestive towns like Soriano, much loved by Pirandello, Bomarzo with its eccentric Parco dei Mostri, San Martino with its splendid Gothic abbey. To the south the Cimini's become sweeter and, through Mount Fogliano, finally lead to Vetralla and its tortuous historic center. In the middle, a must is the natural reserve of Lake Vico with its absorbed and dreamy atmosphere.

Vulci and Tarquinia

Tuscia is a land of Etruscans ("tuscus", in Latin, meaning "Etruscan").
In the province of Viterbo the most important Etruscan sites are Vulci and Tarquinia. Vulci has a necropolis with tombs of fundamental importance such as, for example, the grandiose tumulus of the Cuccumella (18 meters high and with a diameter of 75) and the François tomb. Also in Tarquinia, a delightful medieval town characterized by its numerous towers and proximity to the sea, there is an exceptional Etruscan necropolis, famous in particular for its splendid frescoes, the subject of study and admiration all over the world.
